Translational Research

FROM BENCH TO BEDSIDE

The Optical Brain Imaging team at Drexel University has been committed, since its start, to the translational aspects of scientific research and has worked to accelerate the transition of fNIR technology from bench to bedside.

From current and past efforts and thanks to our entrepreneurs in residence, two start-ups have emerged from this team:

INFRASCAN Inc., a company that commercializes a handheld brain hematoma detector based on near-infrared technology.

fNIR DEVICES LLC, a company created for the commercialization of a portable fNIR imaging device.

Additionally the group has been granted Coulter Translational Partnership Awards through the translational research program of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems.
